I bet you didn't know that it is your olfactory that is what determines which of the scents sets your senses on fire! (To be honest.. neither did I until it was pointed out to me)
The olfactory is vital for the processing and perception of odour and it is located in the temporal lobe of the brain which is involved in organizing sensory input.
Trivial I know, but this is why to one person a particular scent can delight and disgust another. So whether you love earthy, zesty, sweet or fruity scents you have your olfactory to thank for your preferences.
The sense of smell is in most people the most powerful of all of our senses. Smell is the most commonly linked with our memories, more so than any of our other senses. Those with full olfactory function may be able to think of smells that evoke particular memories. BlacKandles Tropical Coconut may evoke memories of travelling afar with a loved one (say to the Seychelles) to one person, yet it brings another to think of waxing their surfboard. Totally depends on the individual's olfactory!!!
